PURPOSE:To make a mechanical seal mechanism for a rotary machine compact, by making an one end side sealing seat ring in slide contact with the other end side seal surface of the axial end face of a bearing race. CONSTITUTION:A seal ring 4 disposed in a seat ring chamber P is pressed against the axial seal ring chamber side end face 13a of an outer race of a bearing 13 rotatably supporting a sprocket drum 16, through an O-ring 10 which is pressed by the tapered surface 8 of a sleeve part 6 of a flange 15 holding a motor 14, so as to effect sealing during the slide rotation thereof. Thus, it is possible to eliminate a seat ring for sealing one side of a conventional floating seal, and an O-ring, and therefore, the axial dimension of the floating seal mechanism may be made to be shorter. Thus, it is possible to reduce the number of required parts and to make the seam mechanism compact.
