PURPOSE:To clearly reproduce an image up to both original end parts by providing a means which set the quantity of illumination light on an image carrier at both end parts lower than at the center part. CONSTITUTION:An original 2 placed on a original platen glass 1 is lighted by a light source lamp 3 and reflected light from the original 2 after passing through a slit plate 10 irradiates a photosensitive drum 11 as the image carrier through mirrors 4 and 5, an image forming lens 6, the aperture part of a light quantity correcting plate 7, and mirrors 8 and 9. A light shielding member 12 which interrupts luminous flux is provided or formed integrally at both end parts of a slit 10a for reflected light passage formed in the slit plate 10 so as to set the quantity of illumination light on the photosensitive drum at both end parts lower than at the drum longitudinal center part. The distribution of the quantity of irradiating light on the photosensitive drum 11 decreases at both end parts because pieces of luminous flux of both longitudinal end parts of the slit formed in the slit plate 10 are interrupted partially. Consequently, an image which is sharp up to both original end parts is obtained.
