1289107 Incontinence devices NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 8 Dec 1969 [10 Dec 1968] 58688/68 Heading A5R A female incontinence device comprises a vaginal insert body 10 having a generally triangular shape in side view, said shape including a base, a first side, and a second side for respective longitudinal, inferior, and superior disposition in the vagina, the insert body 10 also having a second generally triangular shape in plan view, with a first upper surface portion including said first side, narrowing towards the inferior end 10b of the body, and a second upper surface portion, including said second side, widening towards the superior end 10a of the body, and a cavity 11 opening into an aperture in said first upper surface portion. The undersurface of the body 10, including the base, is concave in the lateral direction. The cavity 11 is closed by a flexible diaphragm 12 which may be raised to raise the urethra by inflating a balloon 14 located in the cavity 11. The diaphragm carries a spring clip 13 around its periphery which fits in a seating 13a of the insert body. The balloon is inflated with air from a collapsible reservoir (16), Fig. 5 (not shown), to which it is connected by a tube 15 carrying a roller clip (17).
