摘要 PURPOSE:To always obtain a superior and stable image without being affected by outside humidity or thermal fluctuation, etc., by carrying low resistant toner on an image carrier to which surface layer is formed with amorphous silicon carbide, and afterwards transferring a toner image on a recording medium while softening it. CONSTITUTION:A latent image formed on the image carrier is developed with the low resistant toner with a resistance value of 10<6>-10<9>OMEGAcm by using the image carrier to which surface layer is made of the amorphous silicon carbide. The toner image with low resistance carried on the image carrier is transferred on the recording medium while softening it with a heating or pressurizing means. Also, to transfer the image as softening the toner image, a two-step fixing system in which a preliminary fixing is performed by softening the toner image simultaneously with transfer, and after that, a regular fixing is performed at the downstream side of the carrier path of the recording medium of a transfer position, is available. In such way, it is possible to maintain an initial characteristics even in an electrophotographic characteristics such as the lowering of a surface potential, optical attenuation, dark attenuation, etc., and to obtain the image with superior quality over a long period.
