<p>A filter medium for removing impurities from fluid streams comprises a closed container having an inlet and an outlet, biogenetic silica having a porosity of at least 50% by volume disposed in the closed container, wherein the inlet and the outlet are arranged to direct flow of the fluid through the biogenetic silica. Preferably, the biogenetic silica comprises amorphous rice hull ash devoid of fiber having a porous silicon skeleton.</p> |
