PURPOSE:To restrain the widthwise position of paper leaves in a proper position for separation and delivery by setting side plates in inserting the paper leaves to a position corresponding to the paper leaves having the minimum lateral width. CONSTITUTION:In inserting paper leaves 7, the interval between side plates 2a, 1b is set with reference to the paper leaves 7a having the minimum width. Thus, when the paper leaves 7a are inserted, they are just restrained between both side plates 1a, 1b. Also, when paper leaves 7b having the width larger than the paper leaves 7a are additionally inserted, the paper leaves 7b are deformed. Then, when the paper leaves 7 inserted into a hopper 10 are detected, a pusher plate 2 is moved to pressurized the paper 7 and sandwich the paper leaves 7 between the pusher plate 2 and a front plate 3. Then, the side plates 1a, 1b are moved wide widthwise by a solenoid 4. Thus, the deformation of paper leaves 7b having wider width is eliminated and the paper leaves 7a having smaller width are prevented from the left and right movement.
