PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance and dimensional accuracy by applying a polysiloxane resin layer to the surface of a sintered magnet body in which respective quantities of Nd, Dy, B, Co, Al, C, and Fe are specified. CONSTITUTION:This rare earth magnet has a composition containing, by atom, 11-15% Nd, 0.2-3% Dy, 5-8% B, 0.5-13% Co, 0.5-4% Al, and <=1,000ppm C and satisfying (Nd+Dy)=12-17%. A green compact of a powder of this composition is sintered, so that a sintered magnet body having a main phase composed of tetragonal structure can be obtained. Subsequently, the polysiloxane resin layer is applied to the surface of this magnet body. |
