<p>PURPOSE:To apply a backing to an automotive mat without cracking and peeling, by coating a mold capable of being heated and cooled with a sol-like resin, deaerating the mold, semigelatinizing the resin, contact bonding a fibrous mat, heating and cooling the resin to gelatinize the resin into a rubbery form. CONSTITUTION:A mold 11 for forming slippage preventing protrusions in a resin on the back side of an automotive mat with a sol-like resin 14 and the bottom of the mold 11 is then heated to semigelatinize the resin. A fibrous mat 19 is then contact bonded onto the above-mentioned resin in a tensile state and heated to completely gelatinize the resin. The bonded mat is then cooled with a cooling device 22 to convert the resin into a rubbery form the afore- mentioned mat is peeled to complete the backing to said mat. In this backing method, many air bubbles 23 present in the coated resin 14 are removed through plural air suction holes 17 formed in an assembling frame 13 assembling the mold 11 before said semigelatinization to fill and integrate the resin in the mold and prevent cracking of the resin on the back side and deformation of the above-mentioned protrusions. Thereby peeling of the fibrous mat from the resin is prevented.</p> |
