PURPOSE:To obtain a molding resin material which can easily give a molding of a desired color, by forming a colorant-containing coating layer on the surface of a synthetic resin pellet. CONSTITUTION:A colorant such as a dye, an inorganic pigment, an organic pigment or a special pigment is mixed with a base resin (e.g., PE) for coating, and the mixture is diluted with an organic solvent to obtain a colorant- containing coating. This coating is sprayed onto the surface of a pellet of a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin and dried to form a colorant-containing coating layer on the surface of the pellet.
