PURPOSE:To reduce the quantization unit of a quantized video without increasing the scale of a hardward by constituting a slicer while it is replaced with an A/D conversion circuit and a comparator. CONSTITUTION:In quantizing a video signal mixed with noise and a signal into a digital signal in the form of presence/absence of signal, the signal is sliced at a level and its slice level is detected automatically by the titled device. In such a device, the video signal 1 is digitized by an A/D conversion circuit 10 and the result is compared with a reference (object slice level) calculated by arithmetic operation at a comparator 11 and an output is given when the signal is larger than the reference value, the quantization unit of the output quantized video signal 9 is decided in the quantization unit of the A/D converter 10. Thus, the accuracy of the output quantization video signal is increased and the hardware is miniaturized. |
