PURPOSE:To obtain an alloy plated steel material having superior corrosion resistance and workability by forming an alloy layer having a specified compsn. consisting of Al, Fe and Zn on the surface of a steel material by plating. CONSTITUTION:An alloy layer consisting of 15-40% Al, 5-40% Fe and the balance essentially Zn or further contg. 0.5-7% Si is formed on the surface of a steel material by plating to obtain an alloy plated steel material having very high corrosion resistance and superior workability. The alloy plated steel material is fit for use in a highly corrosive environment and well withstands severe cold working such as drawing. Even when the steel material is bent or press-worked, the alloy layer is not stripped or cracked.
