PURPOSE:To contrive to improve the dimensional accuracy and squareness in cutting-off by a method wherein a prepreg supplied in continuous form is introduced through a dancer roll to take-off rolls so as to intermittently move the prepreg in continuous form in order to cut off the prepreg in continuous form at the stage that the movement of the prepreg in continuous form after passing through the take-off rolls stops. CONSTITUTION:A prepreg 6 is lead to a dancer roll 2 and, after that, taken off with take-off rolls 3 and cut off when the take-off rolls stop. At this time, since the take-off rolls are intermittently driven under the continuous supplying of the prepreg, the dancer roll moves up and down in response to the intermittent driving of the take-off rolls. Accordingly, the dancer roll has the function of an accumulator for changing continuous driving to intermittent driving. Further, in order to better the dimensional accuracy in cutting-off the sheet-like base material in continuous form, it is necessary to prevent sagging, wrinkles, uneven tension, waviness and the like tending to develop during the conveying of the base material from developing. Since the adoptation of the above- mentioned system makes the tension applying to the sheet-like base material constant, the unfavorable state as mentioned above can be avoided.
