PURPOSE:To efficiently form plating having superior adhesion and a smooth surface on an Fe-Ni alloy by pretreating the alloy by electrolytic etching in a sulfuric acid bath contg. a proper amt. of F<->. CONSTITUTION:An Fe-Ni alloy is pretreated by electrolytic etching in a sulfuric acid bath contg. >=0.05% F<-> in the form of HF, NaF, KF, NH4F or the like. The concn. of the sulfuric acid bath is preferably regulated to about>= 0.7% so as to obtain a proper etching rate. When the pretreated Fe-Ni alloy is plated, plating having superior adhesion and a uniform smooth surface is formed with high work efficiency.
