PURPOSE:To stably change back-up gas supply to a converter by changing a cut-off valve for the back-up gas from full-close to full-open while the cut-off valve for blowing gas is in full-open state, at the time of back-up of bottom blowing gas for the bottom blowing converter and automatically controlling the gas pressure. CONSTITUTION:In case supplying pressure is lowered due to abnormality of N2 gas supplying system, resulting in danger, of molten metal ingressing into the furnace bottom tuyere, during blowing N2 gas from the furnace bottom tuyere in the bottom blowing converter, the pressure is detected by a pressure transmitter 4 and a pressure adjusting meter 2-1 for N2 gas line controls a pressure adjusting valve 1-1 by the detecting signal, to automatically control N2 gas pressure to the prescribed pressure. At the time of reaching the full-open state, the pressure adjusting valve 1-2 of Ar gas is turned into automatic control operation, and mutual interference between N2 gas and Ar gas does not occur, but N2 gas is made to backed-up by Ar gas.
