PURPOSE:To prevent unstable furnace operational condition caused by deterioration of permeability in the furnace by classifying raw materials by simple device for storing into each hopper in the blast furnace having bell type raw material charging device, charging the raw materials having different grain size separately into the blast furnace and controlling the distribution of grain size for the raw material in the radius direction in the furnace. CONSTITUTION:At the time of charging the raw material 3 from the furnace top in the bell type blast furnace 1, the blast furnace raw material 3 carried by belt conveyor 21 is dropped from the belt conveyor 21. The coarse grain raw material 31 and fine grain raw material 32 are classified by multi-holed punched iron plate 22 and guide plate 23 and respectively the coarse grain raw material 31 is passed through to a fixed hopper 5b, and the fine raw material 32 is passed through to the holes of multi-holed punched iron plate 22 and once stored in a fixed hopper 5a after preventing the classification by the guide plate 23. This coarse grain raw material 31 and fine grain raw material 32 are separately charged into the blast furnace through a small bell hopper 8 and a large bell hopper 9 based on the special charging schedule. The grain size distribution in radius direction in the blast furnace of the coarse grain raw material 31 together with the fine grain raw material 32 can be freely controlled and the blast furnace operational condition without deterioration of the permeability in the furnace is stabilized.
