PURPOSE:To print a plurality of marks at an arbitrary interval, by setting a plurality of plate seals to a plate cylinder at a plurality of positions in the peripheral direction of said cylinder, and controlling plate-cylinder-driving timing to adjust the printing interval of the marks with respect to a sheetlike article. CONSTITUTION:In a printer 10, two plate seals 13, 14 are set to a plate cylinder 12 at two positions in the peripheral direction thereof but the setting interval of said seals is adjusted so that a small setting interval is becomes [L1=piD.theta/360] when the phase angle of both seals is theta deg. and the diameter of the plate cylinder 12 is set to D and a large setting interval becomes [L2=piD-piD.theta/360]. Further, in this printer 10, the printing interval of marks A, B to a cut plate 11 is adjusted by controlling the driving of a drive motor 16 and the driving timing of the plate cylinder 12 by a controller 17. When the marks A is printed on the leading end side of the cut plate 11 and the mark B is printed on the rear end side of the cut plate 11, the printing interval between both marks A, B becomes the aforementioned small setting interval L1. By this method, the different marks A, B can be printed on the cut plate 11 at two positions of the leading end and rear end parts of the cut plate 11 at an interval equal to or less than the outer peripheral length (piD) of plate cylinder 12.
