PURPOSE:To prevent the overheat of a catalyst and simultaneously suppress the fluctuation in vehicle speed under constant speed running control, by stopping a fuel cutting means when an exhaust temperature is low, while driving the fuel cutting means when the exhaust temperature is high. CONSTITUTION:An actuator 9 for constant speed running control is connected to a throttle valve 6 in a suction pipe 4. The actuator 9 is controlled by a control device 30. An exhaust temperature sensor 92 is provided in an exhaust pipe 91, and an exhaust temperature signal is output from the sensor 92 through an exhaust temperature detecting circuit 93 to the control device 30. In controlling constant speed running, when an exhaust temperature is greater than a predetermined value, and deceleration is detected by a deceleration switch 41, a fuel control circuit 48 is driven to carry out fuel cut. However, when the exhaust temperature is less than the predetermined value, the fuel cut is inhibited regardless of detection of deceleration. Accordingly, overheat of a catalyst may be prevented, and simultaneously a fluctuation in vehicle speed may be also prevented.
