PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fiber consisting of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) having intrinsic viscosity lower than a specific value, having tensile strength higher than a specific value, obtained from PET of textile grade and capable of using as a fiber for industrial materials. CONSTITUTION:The aimed fiber substantially consisting of PET having <=0.90, preferably <=0.80 intrinsic viscosity and having at least 8.5g/d tensile strength. Said fiber is obtained by zone-drawing undrawn PET filament at high temperature (e.g. 250 deg.C) and high speed (30m/min) and then immediately rapidly cooling (e.g. water cooled atmosphere) the drawn filament.
