PURPOSE:To sufficiently supply a raw liq. into all filtration chambers by gradually reducing the volumes of the filtration chambers from the filtration chamber wherein the raw liq. is initially supplied toward the filtration chamber wherein the raw liq. is finally supplied. CONSTITUTION:After all the filter plates are clamped and closed, the raw liq. is not supplied from a raw liq. supply pipe 1a into the respective filtration chambers 9 through the raw liq. supply communicating ports 6f of the respective filter plates and the communicating ports 5a of the respective filter cloths 5, and sent to the raw liq. supply filter plate 61. At the filter plate 61, the raw liq. is supplied into filtration chambers 91 and 91 before and after the raw liq. supply filter plate 61 through a communicating opening 6g. when the respective filtration chambers 91 and 91 are almost filled with the raw liq., the raw liq. begins to be supplied into the filtration chamber 92 having a smaller filtration area than the filtration chamber 91 through a raw liq. supply port 7. Thereafter, the raw liq. is successively supplied into the filtration chambers 9 having a smaller filtration area than the one before, and filtration is started when the raw liq. is supplied into the respective filtration chambers 9.
