PURPOSE:To ensure flexibility for production of documents by designating the attribute of the first character in a control character string that designates an inserted character string and controlling the overall attribute of the inserted character string when the document data is produced. CONSTITUTION:When an inserting edition processing part 13 detects an inserting control code out of the document data on an input document file 11 and extracts and analyzes the inserted character string designation data to perform the inserting compilation processing. In this case, the corresponding inserting character string are extracted in turn out of an inserted character string data file 12 for each document to be produced based on the contents shown by the inserting character string designation data. These extracted character strings are inserted the position of the inserting character string designation data of the input document for production of document data. Here the designation of attribute is identified for the first character to the inserting character string designation data and this attribute is designated to the inserting character string. The data compiled by the part 13 are printed by a KANJI (Chinese characters) printer 15 via a print output processing part 14.
