PURPOSE:To enable fine gradation representation over a wide range of density, by providing a second and a third electro-thermal converter for controlling the temperature of a recording liquid, respectively on the forward side and the backward side of an electro-thermal converter with respect to an ejecting direction. CONSTITUTION:A recording liquid 13 is heated by an electro-thermal converter 105 to cause expansion of the liquid or generation of a bubble, and a liquid droplet 18 is ejected according to the volume change of the recording liquid, thereby recording. Second and third electro-thermal converters 104A, 104B are provided respectively on the forward side and the backward side of the electro-thermal converter 105 contributing to the ejection of the liquid droplet. Therefore, the diameter of the liquid droplet 18 ejected can be varied by heating the recording liquid on the forward side and the backward side of the electro- thermal converter 105 to such a degree as not to eject the liquid and thereby regulating the viscosity of the liquid to a desired value. Consequently, it is possible to represent intermediate gradations, and full-color pictorial images with high quality can be obtained at high speed by using inks of yellow, magenta, cyan and black colors or the like. |
