PURPOSE:To prevent flocculation of hyper-finely pulverized magnetic powder and to improve the dispersibility of said powder as well as the magnetic characteristics and electromagnetic conversion characteristic of a magnetic layer by incorporating a specific compd. into said magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic layer is formed by adding and mixing 0.5-5wt% compd. expressed by the formula to and with the magnetic powder. In the formula, R1 denotes a hydrocarbon group of 11-17C, R2 denotes a hydrocarbon group of 1-4C, n denotes 1-4 integer, M is an alkali metal. The flocculation of the hyper-finely pulverized magnetic powder is prevented and the dispersion effect thereof is exceedingly improved if such compd. and magnetic powder are mixed. The surface smoothness of the magnetic layer is, therefore, good and the magnetic characteristics such as saturation magnetic flux density and squareness ratio and the electromagnetic conversion characteristic are improved.
