PURPOSE:To form plural logical communication channels just with a single exchange of messages by totally transmitting and receiving and negotiating totally the types and the number of virtual terminals among these terminals when connection is set up between systems. CONSTITUTION:The six pieces of terminal information on a host computer 1 are totally delivered to a host computer 4 as soon as a communication channel 5 is set up between systems. The information on the virtual terminals of the computer 1 are compared with the resources of the computer 4 via a table. Then six virtual terminals of the computer 4 are defined as an answer type A, an inquiry type I, a reception type IP, a reception type IP, an answer type A and a transmission type OP respectively. In such a way, a logical communication channel equivalent to six pieces can be formed just with a single connection.
