<p>PURPOSE:To increase the quantity of light emitted and obtain high printing quality at high speed, by forming a light-emitting panel so that the width of a back electrode is greater than the width of transparent electrodes which is limited in the number of picture elements. CONSTITUTION:The quantity of light emitted is proportional to the area of an intersecting part between a transparent elect rode 2 and a back electrode 5, so that the quantity of light is increased with an increase in the width of the electrode 5. The quantity E of light emitted is gradually increased starting at the condition (a) where the electrode widths A and B are equal until the condition where the width A of the back electrode 5 is equal to the pitch P of the transparent electrodes 2. However, when the width A exceeds the pitch P, the quantity E1 of light unrequired is increased, though the apparent quantity E0 of light emitted is increased. The quantity E1 of unrequired light simply worsens the contrast of picture elements. Therefore, the quantity of light practically used is E0-E1, which is maximized when the width A of the back electrode 5 is equal to the pitch P of the transparent electrodes 2. Thus, the quantity of light emitted can be increased independently of the density of the picture elements, so that printing quality and printing speed can be improved.</p> |
