PURPOSE:To prevent an error in measurement due to the individual difference of a measuring person from occurring and to take an accurate measurement of size by positioning the body to be measured at a fixed position with constant pressure and measuring its size. CONSTITUTION:The body 3 to be measured 3 is placed on a plate type block 1, and the fine adjusting screw 10a of a micrometer 10 is rotated to project a spindle 10b and press the body 3 to be measured against a stopper 5 longitudinally with constant pressure, thereby positioning the body 3 to be measured. Then, a measurement arm 9 is moved longitudinally and laterally to move the micrometer 11 fitted to the leg part 9b of the measurement arm 9 to a specific measurement position of the body 3 to be measured and then the fine adjusting screw 11a of the micrometer 11 is rotate to move in and out the spindle 11b, thereby measuring the lateral size W1 while clamping the body 3 to be measured between the spindle 11a and the leg part 9b of the measurement arm 9. The lateral size of the body 3 to be worked can be measured without any difference in the measurement result of the measuring person since the body 3 to be measured is pressed longitudinally and laterally with the constant pressure.
