PURPOSE:To quickly and readily peel carbon deposit adhered and solidified on the lid of a coke oven while preventing the damage of a fire-resistant material on the well surface of the oven, by applying vibrations to the adhered carbon deposit with a vibrator and further attaching a pick to the tip of the vibrator in a specific angle. CONSTITUTION:Carbon deposit 5 adhered and solidified to the lid of a coke oven 2 is effectively peeled by applying vibrations to the carbon deposit 5 with a vibrator 6 and further setting the angle theta formed between the axial direction of a pick 7 attached to the tip of the vibrator 6 and the wall surface of the oven to 10 deg.-60 deg. (particularly preferably 25 deg.-35 deg.).
