PURPOSE:To enable handling in the light room by incorporating an org. desensitizing agent and a mercapto compd. in an emulsion. CONSTITUTION:A negative type fine grain silver halide photographic emulsion contg. at least 80mol% silver chloride incorporates an org. desensitizing agent having a positive sum of both anode potential and cathode potential of the polarograph, and a heterocyclic mercapto compd. represented by formula I or IIin which X is S, Se, O, or N-R2; R2 is lower alkyl, aryl, or amino; and R1 is a group having not nitro, sulfo, and carboxylic group, or an atom. The org. desensitizing agent satisfying said potential condition is as follows: pinacryptol yellow, phenosafranine, etc. As a result, this emulsion is safe in the light room for a long time and it can be exposed with a light source emitting light rich in UV rays. |
