PURPOSE:To simply match the break of a page even when the exhausion of paper is generated, by providing function for automatically matching the page after resetting the paper when output is stopped on the way by the exhausion of the paper. CONSTITUTION:In a printer, a line position memory storing a present line position, a position display mark 11 showing a position where the head of a page is set, a button 13 indicating the size of paper and a page setting button 14 for matching a line position with the content stored in the memory are provided. When a power source is closed, the button 13 is operated at first in such a state that the printer is in a reset state and the break of the page is matched with the position display mark 11 to start output. When the exhausion of the paper is generated, printout is already finished on the way of the page and the line position memory stores the line position thereof. When the paper is again set to the printer and the break of the page is matched with the position display mark 11 and the page setting button 14 is operated, the printer automatically sends the paper to the line position stored in the line position memory before restarting output.
