PURPOSE:To reduce a pumping loss and adjust properly the output of each cylinder by connecting communicating paths to a manifold, forming said paths to have an approximately equal length and interposing a controlling valve for controlling a draft amount in the proximity of a communicating port. CONSTITUTION:Communicating ports 21-23 are provided which open during a period from intake stroke to compression one in respective cylinders 5-7. The communicating ports 21-23 of respective cylinders 5-7 are adapted to communicate to each other through respective communicating paths 24-26 and a manifold 27. The lengths of respective communicating paths 24-26 from said respective ports 21-23 to the manifold 27 are made approximately equal to each other. Near said ports 21-23 are interposed controlling valves 28-30 for controlling a draft amount according to an engine load amount. Thus, a pumping loss is reduced, a charge amount in each cylinder can be evened and the output of each cylinder can be properly adjusted.
