PURPOSE:To optimize the spectral distribution of luminous flux for focus detection to the focus detection, to lower focus detection limit brightness, and to enable auxiliary light focus detection by switching filters which have different spectral characteristics on a focus detection optical path. CONSTITUTION:A central processing means 11 sends a switching command for a filter 15 to a switching means 14 to put a filter 15A on the optical path of a focus detection optical system, and an image sensor is controlled to input arithmetic data from a sensor output, thereby obtaining information regarding the focus adjustment state of a photography optical system 21. When subject brightness is larger than a specific value B1, a counter N1 is set to zero and when the value of the counter N1 is larger than a specific value N2, a processing means 11 commands a switching means to switch the filter 15A to a filter 15B, thereby inserting the filter 15A into the optical path of the focus detection optical system. The filters 15A and 15B differ in spectral transmissivity characteristics. |
