PURPOSE:To prevent a person from being conscious of a waiting time, by displaying a program received until an arbitrary selected program is retrieved at the time of switching a channel, repeating the same processing again after a prescrined time, and displaying the selected program immediately when it is retrieved. CONSTITUTION:At the time of switching the channel, the retrieval of the program of contents is started by processing a channel code from a key input part 2 at a key processing part 3, and simultaneously, a display permission register 10 is set. A video signal inputted from an input terminal A is fetched in a buffer RAM at a character signal sampling part 1 as a teletext data, and a control part 4 detects the forefront of the program, and when it is not the program of contents, the register 10 is reset, and a register 11 under display is set, and furthermore, the program is fetched and a display processing is performed. And when an end data is detected, the display processing is completed, and a timer 12 is set, and it is reset after completing the counting of an arbitrary time, then, the register 10 is set, and the register 11 is reset. The above processing is repeated, and when the program of contents is detected, the registers 10 and 11 and the timer 12 are reset, then, the selected program is displayed immediately.
