PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized title sensor having a wide measuring range for detecting a solar direction, by rotating a small-sized sunray detector driven by a motor and using the output signal of said detector and the rotary position signal of the motor. CONSTITUTION:A sunray detector 8 has sunray detection elements 3a-3c and incident slits 4a, 4b and the detection elements 3a, 3b measure the incident angle theta of incident sunrays. When a line of sight ZS turns to a solar direction during the rotation of the detector 8 around the rotary axis set in a YS direction, the incident light 5b passing the slit 4b is allowed to irradiate the detection element 3c and an electric signal is outputted from the detection element 3c. The detector 8 thus constituted is mounted to a motor 10 equipped with a rotary position detector 9 and mounted on an artificial satellite 1 to be rotated around the YS-axis of the detector 8, and the sunray incident angle and the detection signal of the detector 9 when the signal of the detection element 3c is obtained are subjected to signal processing by a processing circuit to measure the solar direction S in the orthogonal coordinates system xyz of the artificial satellite 1 as an angle phi of rotation and an incident angle alpha.
