PURPOSE:To improve the data recording efficiency by replacing a flux with adjacent binary code data different from each other in recording the binary code data onto a magnetic recording medium where magnetic bits and nonmagnetic bits are arranged alternately. CONSTITUTION:A data track 2 and a non-data track 3 are provided concentrically on a face of a magnetic disk 1 magnetic bits 4 and nonmagnetic bits 5 are arranged alternately at a prescribed length of equal pitch interval in the recording and reproducing direction (direction A in figure) on data tracks 2, 2.... In recording the binary code data on the magnetic disk 1, the flux is replaced when adjacent binary code data differ. Thus, it is not required to provide a track for synchronizing clock signal or a clock space in addition to a data track on the face of the magnetic recording medium, much data space is provided to improve the recording efficiency of data information.
