PURPOSE:To reduce power, to suppress heat and noise by detecting the ambient temperature inside and outside of an information processing unit including a memory circuit so as to vary an operating period for refresh in response to the detected temperature. CONSTITUTION:The titled system is the refresh control system of a memory circuit using a dynamic memory element and the operating period of the memory refresh is controlled freely depending on the ambient temperature of the memory circuit. That is, since the resistance of a thermister 5 changes with the ambient temperature, the ambient temperature is converted into a digital signal by an analog/digital conversion circuit 2. The signal is converted by a refresh period setting circuit 3 that the refresh period time is longer when the temperature is low and the period is shorter when the temperature is high conversely. Thus, power is saved, heat is lowered and noise is suppressed.
