PURPOSE:To easily and securely execute the layout of a printed screen by constituting a titled device is such a way that plural frames are set on a display screen and frame attributes can be designated in respective frames. CONSTITUTION:If a cursor shift signal, a Japanese syllabary, a control signal and the like are inputted from an input device, these signals are respectively transferred to a cursor controller 11, a Japanese syllabary/Chinese character converter 12, and a document editing device 13. A CRT controller 10 sets a CRT 20 to display an inputted character-string or a graphic. Plural frames are set on the display screen of the CRT 20, and the frame attributes such as the direction of the character-string and that of the character itself are set in a frame attribute memory 15A. The document editing device 13 edits the document in the frame based on the set frame attribute.
