PURPOSE:To make it possible that a processing device is set in a holding state by discriminating that the processes continue even after completing clocking a longest timer by providing a central operation processing unit which controls communication according to the actions of the timer. CONSTITUTION:A timer is used in order to escape from the infinite loop of a program. The timer, which is the longest of the timers T1-T4 and longer original timers prescribed in a transmission control procedure by a CCITT counsel, is simultaneously set as well as the set of the respective timers. Thus, even if the program enters the infinite loop caused by anything, operating system can escape from the infinite loop when the longest timer is time-out. The runaway of the program and the execution of the infinite loop, etc., caused by mistakes in the program can be evaded and a device to be controlled can be automatically turned to the holding state.
