Method for manufacturing an article of the shoulder-strap, strap, belt or bracelet type, which can subsequently be adjusted to the desired length by the user. Method relating to a system for machine stitching in order to shorten a shoulder strap, belt, strap, bracelet or any other article of this type. It consists in making a double machine stitching 3, 4, leaving a space 2 for cutting the shoulder strap 1. Each new transverse machine stitching 3 and 4 results, respectively, from the continuity of the seams (sewing) 5 and 6 and joins up with the seams (sewing) 7 and 8. Method which can be used for all types of material: fabric, wool, leather, imitation leather and derivatives of leather, and articles resulting therefrom. <IMAGE>
