PURPOSE:To obtain the title film excellent in moldability and ability of generating heat at a low voltage and capable of giving an electrothermal transfer recording material operable at a low applied voltage and has good durability, by mixing a specified carbon black with a thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:20-200pts.wt. carbon black (A) obtained by a furnace process and having a pore volume <=2.5cc (as measured by mercury porosimetry), a position of the max. peak on the pore distribution >=200Angstrom (mercury porosimetry) and a DBP absorption of 20-250ml/100g is mixed with 100pts.wt. thermoplastic resin (B) excellent in heat resistance and durability, such as PP, nylon, polycarbonate or polyethylene terephthalate and, optionally, additives (C) such as a dispersant, a softening agent and a lubricant, and the resulting mixture is formed into the title film of a thickness <=30mu by melt extrusion.
