PURPOSE:To automatize a straightening of a steel pipe by rotating the steel pipe placed horizontally on a rotating roller, the maximum high deflections of both ends of the axis line and the middle part and these directions are detected and by linear or dotted heating with a flame from the direction of the curve correction. CONSTITUTION:The steel pipe 1 is loaded on the pair 3 of right and left rollers to rotate. Distances to the surface of the pipe are detected by measuring instruments 20a-20c under pulse generators 21a-21c arranged on the both ends and the middle part of the steel pipe 1 disposed on a rail 5 parallel to the axis line 19 of the horizontal steel pipe 1, the maximum high deflections and the directions are detected by a counter 2. At a straightening control section 23, based on the positions of the maximum de-deflections of the steel pipe 18, the linear or dotted heating are performed by the flame of a gas burner 24 to make the deflections to be zero and to straighten the steel pipe 1. The straightening efficiency is improved by this automatization of the work.
