An electronically-controlled power steering apparatus in which the steering power generated by a power cylinder (15) is controlled by a microcomputer (54). The detected signals from a vehicle speed sensor (50) and a steering angle sensor (51) are input into the microcomputer (54), which is adapted to read a control current corresponding to these detected signals from a memory (60), and to output a signal. A solenoid valve (20), which is adapted to control the communication between the left and right chambers of a power cylinder (15), and a solenoid valve (30), which is adapted to control the supply of pressure oil from a pump (16) to a servovalve (14), are driven by a control current from the microcomputer (54). The microcomputer (54) is adapted to reduce the control current, which is supplied to the solenoid valves (20), (30), while the vehicle runs a predetermined distance or for a predetermined period of time after the power source has been turned on.
|
