PURPOSE:To inexpensively purify sewage, by using a laminate which is formed by piling up particles obtained by grinding a porous calcium silicate cured body toward an upper layer from ones having a small particle size in order, as a sewage filter material. CONSTITUTION:A porous calcium silicate cured body being the cut refuse of autoclaved lightweight concrete is ground and the particle size of the ground substance is uniformized. Then, particles 3 having a small particle size are layed on a bottom and particles 2 having a larger particle size are successively piled up to form a filter body having a layered structure. Sewage 6 is allowed to flow through this filter body and the org. substance, clay or hydroxide of iron or magnesium suspended in the sewage are absorbed by the porous gaps of the calcium silicate filter body to obtain purified water 7. After treatment, bacteria and decomposition enzyme are further added to the calcium silicate filter body having the org. substance or sludge adhered thereto and the whole is cultured and aged to be made usable as fertilizer and a soil conditioning material.
