PURPOSE:To enhance corrosion resistance, by using a discharge electrode of which the surface is formed from a silicon carbide material. CONSTITUTION:In an apparatus for charging suspended particles in air by corona discharge to electrostatically collect the same, a SiC material used as a discharge electrode. The SiC material is obtained by forming SiC on the surface of a metal material by a CVD method. By this method, the corrosion resistance of the discharge electrode is enhanced and long-term stable operation can be performed.
