PURPOSE:To secure the rust preventive effect at a low cost by forming lowering slits on the outer panel of a rear wheel house to smooth the circulation of a liq., applying electrodeposition, and then closing the slit with soundproofing coating or chipping resistant coating. CONSTITUTION:Plural lowering slits 5 are formed on the outer panel 2a of the rear wheel house 2 simultaneously with the press forming of the panel. The outer panel 2a is incorporated into the vehicle body building member. The flow property of the liq. electrodeposition paint in a space 3 is improved by the liq. circulating action of the lowering slits 5, and the surfaces of a quarter panel 1 and the outer panel 2a facing the space 3 are appropriately electrodeposited to all the corners. After baking and drying, soundproofing coating or chipping resistant coating is applied. In this case, the lowering slits 5 is completely closed by the paint film 6 of a vinyl chloride-based sol, etc., coated on the inner peripheral surface of the outer panel 2a. By this method, appropriate electrodeposition is carried out, and the rust preventive effect is secured.
