PURPOSE:To allow an operator at a transmission side to recognize the communication mode by providing a display means visualizing the decided communication mode. CONSTITUTION:A discriminating means A discriminating the function of a receiver side equipment on a procedure signal sent from the receiver side equipment, a deciding means B deciding the communication mode in response to the output of the discrimination means A and a display means C visualizing the decided communication mode are provided, the function of the opposite receiver equipment is discriminated and the communication mode suitable for the function is displayed on the display device of its own equipment (transmission side equipment). Thus, the operator at the transmission side takes a required disposition and the re-transmission due to the deterioration in the picture quality and the telephone correspondence after communication are prevented in advance.
