PURPOSE:To quickly decide reducibility by a simple operation, completely oxidizing reduced pellets by a oxidative gas at a high temp. and estimating the reducibility from the weight change of the pellets before and after oxidation and the carbon content in the pellets. CONSTITUTION:The weight change rate DELTAW is defined by the equation I (W1: the weight before the oxidation, W2: the weight after the oxidation, x: carbon value) when the reduced pellets are oxidized in the high temp. oxidative gas and the carbon is measured simultaneously. The reducibility R is expressed by the equation II (O; Const) and the weight change rate DELTAW attains the value expressed by the equation III (alpha: the value determined by the chemical compsn. of the ore). The reducibility of the prereduced chromium or pellet is, therefore, determined by the equation IV.
