PURPOSE:To easily separate the upper low temp. layer and lower high temp. layer of sintered or after sintering by interposing granular limestone layer to the middle of sintering raw materials at the time of sintering the powder iron ore by a DL sintering machine. CONSTITUTION:A layer 10 of bedding ore is first formed on an endless pallet and further a sintering raw material layer 13 consisting of a mixture composed of powder iron ore, returns, limestone powder and coke is formed thereon at the time of producing the sintered ore of the powder iron ore by the Dwight- Lloyd (DL) sintering machine. A layer 16 of the fine particulate limestone having <=7mm average grain size is successively formed thereon and finally, the sintering raw material layer 19 is formed thereon. The raw material layer 19 ignited and air is passed from the upper part to the lower part to execute sintering by combustion of the coke. The limestone layer is decomposed to quick lime by the high-temp. exhaust gas from the upper raw material layer 19 and both the upper and lower sintered ore layers can easily be separated; therefore, the sintered ore is cooled with high cooling efficiency by disposing the upper low temp. sintered ore and lower high temp. sintered ore dividedly to the upper and lower layers of the cooling media and cooling said ore.
