NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula (R<1> is H or alkyl; R<2> is H or acyl). EXAMPLE:6-Hydroxy-7- methoxy-2-methyl-2-( 4-methylpent-3-enyl )-2H-1-benzopy- ran. USE:A preventive and remedy for adult diseases active to inhibit the production of lipid peroxide. PREPARATION:The compound of formula can be produced e.g. by extracting Amaroucium multiplicatum belonging to Amaroucium genus, Polychrini family, Ascidiaceae order, Urochordacea class, Prochordata subkingdom with a hydrophilic solvent such as methanol, washing with n-hexane to remove an n-hexane-soluble fraction and purifying the product by silica gel column chromatography.
