<p>A door latch assembly (10) for unlatching and opening a door (14) in one motion. The assembly (10) comprises a housing (12) adapted to be mounted on a door (14) and having a handle (46) pivotally mounted about an axis perpendicular to the direction the door (14) opens. A cam driver (56) having a cam surface (60) is fixed to the handle (46) so that the cam driver (56) will pivot with the handle. A cam link (70) is connected with the cam surface (60) of the cam driver (56) to translate pivotal motion of the handle (46) into linear motion. A dish (84) having a cam surface (98) is rotatably mounted on the housing (12). The cam surface of dish (84) is in contact with the cam link (70) such that the linear motion of the cam link (70) causes rotational motion of the dish (84). A latch (110) is connected to the dish (84) such that rotation of the dish disengages the latch (110). When the handle (46) is lifted in the direction the door (14) opens, the dish (84) rotates and unlatches and opens the door (14).</p> |
