An article cassette for a vending machine comprises a horizontal conveyor (13) which may support a plurality of articles (21) in a row, one after the other, in a storage space (20) located behind an outfeed station (32) and feed said articles (21) step by step towards said outfeed station (32) while successively transferring one article (21) to the outfeed station (32), which has an access opening (31) provided with a cover (30) mounted for rotation between a lockable closed position and an open position, in which it uncovers the access opening (31), screen means (38) being provided for screening off the storage space (20) from the outfeed station (32) when the access opening (31) is uncovered. In order to provide an improved and less expensive screening arrangement, said screen means are formed by a screen member (38) which is rigidly connected to the cover (30) and which may be inserted into the transport path for the articles (21) from the storage space (20) to the outfeed station (32) when the cover (30) is rotated in a direction towards its open position and withdrawn from said transport path when the cover (30) is rotated in the opposite direction. |
