PURPOSE:To improve the utilizing efficiency of a common bus by applying inquiry of communication request of each terminal equipment via a line independent of a bus during the transmission of a packet on the bus. CONSTITUTION:A central controller 101 supplies an address and a clock for the inquiry of communication request to two-phase clock lines 106, 107 while checking a reply signal from a reply line 105. In receiving an inquiry signal of communication request, a terminal equipment 112-i having a transmission packet returns a reply signal to the inquiry to the controller 101 through the reply line 105. Then a common bus 102 is supervised and after a packet during transmission is finished or the idle state of a transmission medium is detected, the packet is sent to the bus 102. The communication request inquiry is applied by the control station 101 during the packet transmission in this way and the terminal equipment sends a packet at bus use enable state, then the bus is used almost without intermission.
